Wide receiver is going to be a big discussion in the offseason. Hell, it already is with people trying to say Jordy Nelson is washed up, or trying to make the case why both Nelson and Randall Cobb should be off the team. Wide receiver could be a position where Green Bay revamps it through the draft as well as in free agency. The decisions on Nelson and Cobb will tell the story about how much Green Bay goes in with wide receiver help. I do think they’ll address in the draft with probably wanting to replace Geronimo Allison and Trevor Davis next season.

I wouldn’t say this is a loaded wide receiver class, but there are many players would fit what the Packers need on their offense right now. A perimeter threat who can stretch the field a little bit that gives Aaron Rodgers a deep ball target as well as a reliable, healthy receiver. Even if Packers fan want Jarvis Landry, he makes no sense for what Green Bay needs unless they jettison both Cobb and Nelson.

1. Paul Richardson (25) – Here’s the guy I feel like Green Bay should put all of their money into from a free agent wide receiver standpoint. Richardson is a downfield threat with great hands. He showed flashes of becoming Russell Wilson’s guy during this season. Richardson finished with 706 yards on only 43 catches. Wilson took shots with him a bunch this season resulting in 80 targets. Rodgers would love to have a guy like Richardson on this roster.

2. Terelle Pryor (28) – Can Green Bay get a buy low opportunity here with Pryor? He is unlike receivers that have been Green Bay being a rangy 6’4 with unreal hands plus a solid body. Pryor did express frustration about Washington moving the ball around, but he saw a significant dip in targets compared to Cleveland. It’s possible he’s the type of player who needs to be on a rebuilding roster where he can be the man, but Green Bay’s offense could do some big things with Pryor on the perimeter.

3. Donte Moncrief (24) – Did you know Donte Moncrief is only 24 years old? Did you also know Moncrief was a legit red zone assassin with Andrew Luck? He had eight red zone touchdowns in 2016 which has to appease Rodgers. Moncrief hasn’t been good in a couple years, but I feel that’s more Indianapolis than it is the player even if he’s shown some regression. To me, this is a great example of a shrewd free agency signing that could pay off huge dividends during the season. This wouldn’t be an expensive add.
