Is the 2026 World Cup Coming to Lambeau?

Today, the 2026 World Cup spanning United States, Mexico and Canada released their plans to be the hosts of the premier event spanning three different countries. The North America bid will be going up against Morocco’s bid for a chance at a World Cup. Lambeau Field continues to be in the news as they were part of the plan as a potential host for World Cup matches. There’s a lot of reasons why the hallow ground makes sense.
Let’s look at the location. It’s not as bad as you might think it is. Green Bay, Wisconsin is two hours away from Milwaukee. It’s three from Madison and five from Chicago or Minneapolis. That’s perfect for what World Cup is looking for when it comes to stadium location. Furthermore, there would be something cool about showing Lambeau to the world. Do I think this is a venue for a quarterfinal or semifinal? Nope. That belongs to a Levi’s Stadium or MetLife yet it’s a place where a full week of futbol would be something else.
If North America does not get the World Cup, something is wrong with the process. I’m not sure how you can say what Cananda-Mexico-United States put together is problematic. It’s hard to poke holes in what they’re doing. Hopefully, Wisconsin gets a little exposure too.
