Aaron Rodgers’ Injury Changes My View of 2018 Season
Aaron Rodgers decided he was not done giving key nuggets to the media on Tuesday. Rodgers let Jason Wilde and Mark Tauscher know that he suffered a tibial fracture along with a sprained MCL in the first game of the season. For those unfamiliar with a tibial fracture, it’s the large bone in your lower leg. Rodgers basically played with a broken leg all season. This is an injury that took JJ Watt over a year to recover from, Kobe Bryant was out for months yet the Packers quarterback kept playing football. It changes how I feel about Rodgers 2018 season.
Many people wanted to point to Rodgers getting the big deal and considered him washed up for a rough 2018 year. No one really knew how hurt he was and how much it affected him from game to game. Additionally, Aaron added that he had a setback in Week 5 with his MCL injury. To me, this is important with how to judge last year. Sure, Rodgers had some great games in 2018, but we did not see some of the vintage Aaron things we’ve grown accustomed to throughout the years. Partly, that was due to his injury. Packers should be thankful he didn’t get hurt any further than his two injuries.
Some might think Rodgers is making excuses and to that, I say bullshit. This is some Brett Favre-type shit from Rodgers. People always seem to think Rodgers isn’t like Brett when it comes to doing everything to win. That couldn’t be less true. Rodgers is a little less reckless, and let’s face it if concussions were taken more seriously in the 90’s and 00’s, Favre probably does not have the amount of consecutive games played. Informing the media and fans about his 2018 injuries is more for knowledge and assurance that this year will be different.
This season is a redemption year for Rodgers, and he will try to achieve it.
