Aaron Rodgers’ Opinion of Kaepernick Shouldn’t Surprise You

In an interview with ESPN, Aaron Rodgers talked about a wide-range of topics. It was a fascinating chat that I recommend y’all check it out because there are ton of tidbits worth gnawing on. The biggest one for the national media was Rodgers voicing support for free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He’s likely the most prominent quarterback to speak out for him, but still, it’s not a surprise to see the Packers quarterback voice his support.
They are both quarterbacks, and both part of that brotherhood. There’s a strong connection for players at the same position because people always want to protect their own. As a former offensive lineman, I always have a special place in my heart for linemen no matter if it is high school, college or pro. Rodgers having Kaepernick’s back doesn’t surprise me in the slightest. I feel like most of the quarterbacks in the National Football League feel the same. Now, the question is would most of them say it?
That’s hard to say because everyone is their own person. Some are more open to give their opinions about things like the Kaepernick situation, and others will give cream cheese responses to absolutely everything. That said, I feel like there’s still a respect for Kaepernick around the league at the quarterback position. Some may feel he’s a ‘distraction’ like LeSean McCoy put it, but most have a baseline level respect for him. Based on the reaction of Rodgers’ comments, I wouldn’t be shocked if a few NFL quarterbacks get asked about it today.
I have a feeling Kaepernick will be on an NFL roster by Week 3. There are always so many injuries to the quarterback position that it’s bound to happen where a team needs a player of his stature.
