Milwaukee takes a lot of pride in their own. That’s what makes Milwaukee great among other things. Milwaukee resident and Notre Dame forward Arike Ogunbowale received some headlines for hitting a game-winner against undefeated UCONN on Friday night then she did it again versus Mississippi State to take home the National Championship game. Tonight’s buzzer-beater was definitely more impressive with an impossible shot in a bigger moment. Unbelievable win by Notre Dame to take home their second national championship.

What I didn’t realize when I talked about Ogunbowale on Saturday is that she’s playing on a Notre Dame missing FOUR players with ACL injuries. That’s absolutely incredible that they found their way to the Final Four and then a National Championship. An improbable season that will live in Notre Dame lore, and Ogunbowale will join the greats at Notre Dame. My guess is Milwaukee will give Arike a hero’s welcome whenever she returns to Wisconsin.
