Wisconsin Badgers drew a People’s Eyebrow from their fans early on in Saturday’s game. Wisconsin led New Mexico by a mere three points heading into the break. Wisconsin trailed for most of the first half, and the play was sloppy at times with Jonathan Taylor fumbling the football at the goal line. Yet Wisconsin recovered like they’ve done in the past with a huge second half scoring 35 points and holding New Mexico to seven. Badgers get another victory under their belt, although, they move down the rankings to number six. People have started to lose a little faith in Wisconsin, but it’s very, very early in the season.

Despite the turnover, Taylor is the Heisman front-runner – I don’t think it’s close at this point. Bryce Love had a solid game versus USC, but it pales in comparison with what Taylor did on Saturday. He rushed for a career-high 253 yards with three touchdowns. It’s not surprising that Taylor is picking up right where he left off last season. He had some big runs to change the complexion of this ball game. He will get his first test of the year versus BYU at Camp Randall next week. My guess is he will pass that one too.

Turnovers swing this one in Wisconsin’s favor – New Mexico fought pretty hard int his game. Lobos were threatening in the third quarter before Scott Nelson came up with a big interception then the Badgers had a score with Alex Hornibrook hooking up with A.J. Taylor. Then they had a fumble on the following possession leading to another six for Wisconsin. Badgers defense bailed this offense out at times on Saturday.

Another Taylor had a good day – With playing time comes opportunity as they might say and A.J. Taylor is taking advantage. The sophomore is the number one wide receiver at the moment with Quintez Cephus and Danny Davis both suspended due to the sexual assault case against them. Taylor seized the moment yet again with a career day catching five passes for 134 yards and a touchdown.

Wisconsin stays home to play BYU. This is a game that Wisconsin hopes to win, and BYU becomes a bowl team to help their appeal to the computers. BYU is not the same poor unit from last year. They beat Arizona on the road in Week 1, and played Cal pretty close at home last week losing by three. This should be a defensive struggle, and Wisconsin better come ready to play. The Cougars are no slouch. 2:30 pm start on ABC for those curious.
