Badgers Clinch Big Ten West

Wisconsin Badgers are the Big Ten West champions after Nebraska loses to Iowa, 40-10, this afternoon. Once again, Hawkeyes are doing big things for their Wisconsin comrades. It’s surprising to see Nebraska lay an egg versus Hawkeyes in a rivalry game, and a game where they could still have a chance at the Big Ten West crown. One could ponder if Tommy Armstrong Jr. was healthy or not, but one thing we do know, their defense decided to play their worst game of the season. Iowa hit two big plays with Akrum Waldey’s 75-yard run then C.J. Beathard’s long pass to Riley McCarron, and Nebraska couldn’t recover from those early big plays.
Now, Wisconsin is the Big Ten West champion and will await either Michigan, Ohio State or Penn State next week in Indianapolis. We’ll talk about this a little more in an upcoming Badgers preview, but Wisconsin cannot let down here. They’ve been razor focused, but Minnesota would love nothing more then to beat the ax streak and knock this team out of the College Football Playoff running.
As for the other game that matters for Wisconsin on Black Friday, Washington murdered Washington State with a 45-17. That’s not going to help Badgers at all. Likely, Huskies will be the number four team when the rankings come out replacing the Ohio State-Michigan loser.
