Badgers Football Puts a Bow on Strong Season

Wisconsin football should be proud of their season, amid, not having an undefeated year. Wisconsin went 13-1, their best record since 2006 when they went 12-1 (Crazy, they were in the Capital One Bowl that year). Badgers had a strong performance against Miami including a breakout game for Alex Hornibrook who threw for four touchdowns and no interceptions. Wisconsin looks ahead to what could be another great year for the team in 2018 as they bring back most of this surprisingly young roster.
There’s a lot of time before the first college football poll comes out in August, but it will be curious to see where they put Wisconsin in the mix. Hornibrook returns for another season, and fans might want to start getting on his bandwagon for next year. Jonathan Taylor returns as well as all of the wide receivers besides Quintez Ceephus. They do lose Troy Fumagali, but it seems Wisconsin always finds tight ends. This offense could be very potent next season. Don’t be surprised if they score a bunch next year.
The defense, which has become the calling card of this program, will need some help rebuilding, but it probably will not miss a beat next year. They will have to replace sevens starters currently as Nick Nelson announced he’s going pro and skipping his senior year. If T.J. Edwards and D’Cota Dixon both go, they would be down nine starters from last year, but both are expected to stay in school. Looking at Wisconsin’s depth chart, you’ve heard of the backups especially in the front seven and they’ve shown moments of brilliance. There’s nothing to worry about with this football team’s defense.
Wisconsin’s schedule will be a bit harder than last year. They have road trips to Michigan and Penn State on the schedule next year. Michigan stands to be improved and the Badgers haven’t played well in Happy Valley of late. The hard road trips do not stop there with visits to Iowa City and West Lafayette also on the schedule. Wisconsin will have a much tougher time repeating their success considering their schedule.
Until next year, Badgers football.
