Badgers Have 3 Players in ESPN’s Top 50 CFB Players

College football is coming. We’re only a few weeks away. I cannot wait for the season to start. It should be a great slate in the first week with Michigan-Notre Dame renewing their rivalry, Washington-Auburn, Louisville-Alabama (Might not be much of a game but who knows), Miami-LSU and Virginia Tech-Florida State. Wisconsin does not get a true test until they play Iowa in four weeks, but there are a ton of hype around them to start the season. ESPN is buying in with three players in their top 50 Best College Football players. Jonathan Taylor, David Edwards and T.J. Edwards are all representatives there which would feel just about right.
Jonathan Taylor versus Bryce Love will probably be the debate of the college football season. Both are gunning for the Heisman trophy, and who knows what really makes the difference between the two players. It feels similar to when Trent Richardson and Montee Ball were debated as who was the best running back in college back in 2011. Ball had better stats that year but less attention paid to him due to where they both went to school. This is a little different with Love and Taylor since Stanford doesn’t have the noise that Alabama does on a regular basis. I do think Houston’s Ed Oliver has a legit chance to be a Heisman Trophy winner as a defensive line player.
As for the other two Badgers, the Edwards are premier ball players. No, they are not related in case you were wondering. T.J. Edwards is a stalwart of the defense and a leader of the defense. T.J. is a player that you can always count on making big plays, and he usually does it. David Edwards doesn’t get much hype because he’s an offensive lineman, and that’s what happens with the linemen. But he’ll probably be a first round draft pick and vital part to the Badgers’ rushing attack.
College football cannot come soon enough.
Charlie.
