Badgers Lose Biegel and Skinny Fat Rafa

News came out Thursday that Wisconsin linebacker Vince Biegel will miss two to four weeks as he’s getting a screw put in his foot as its currently cracked. Additionally, kicker Rafael Gaglianone will be done for the year with a back injury. This is a massive blow to Wisconsin’s defense and special teams.
Biegel is the heart and soul of that defense. He’s probably the top player you wouldn’t want to lose off Wisconsin’s defense. Biegel had a hell of a start to the season and made so many big plays for this Badgers team. They have a great linebacker core, but without Biegel, they are going to be lacking a great deal in the rush and pass defense. Good news for Wisconsin is Zach Baun and Garrett Dooley are competent backups. They aren’t going to replace Biegel’s production, but it’s not like Wisconsin is hapless at the position. This is a good read on both players.
Fat Rafa being done for the season is not what you want to see for special teams. That’s asking a lot of Andrew Endicott, and I’m guessing you’ll see a lot more risk-taking by this Badgers offense.
