David Bakhtiari got paid on Tuesday with a four-year 51 million dollar extension to stay with the team. The 24 year old left tackle will be protecting Aaron Rodgers blindside for the near future. This also allows a little more insight on what Green Bay might plan to do with their offensive line moving forward. Green Bay still has some work to do with T.J. Lang and J.C. Tretter both being free agents next season. Packers could go in many different ways for their new offensive line.

Bak-Tretter-Linsley-Lang-Bulaga: My guess is we’ll see something like this next season. Tretter or Lang will play the left guard position with the hope that Corey Linsley is the same player after his injury.

Bak-Lang-Linsley-Bulaga-Spriggs: This could be the plan behind the Bakhtiari deal because they want Jason Spriggs to start at some point as a second-round draft pick. The way to do might be to move Bryan Bulaga to guard, and he can coach Spriggs as they play together on the right side of the line.

Bak-Tretter-Linsley-Taylor-Spriggs: If the Packers decided that Lang was too rich for their blood, they could always use Tretter then kick Bulaga inside.

There are many ways Ted Thompson can go with the offensive line. Lang might be in the Sitton category that he’s too old although I would argue with anyone he’s as physical as they come plus he’s been a better guard than Sitton. Not to mention, Lang can still play center or tackle in emergency situations. My guess is Tretter might be the odd man out given he’s get a significant increase from 770k if he’s a starter in the National Football League.

Thompson made the right move by locking up Baktiari. I doubt it happens for the other lineman this week. We’ll see if Thompson has any more new contracts up his sleeve.
