CFB Bowl Picks: Welcome To Scandal Tuesday

We’re back on the winning path with college football picks. We went a beautiful 3-0 for both straight up and against the spread. The word of the day is scandal. No, we don’t need Olivia Pope here, but three of the eight teams playing today had some sort of scandal. It seemed like Monday would be uneventful with some bad teams, yet the St. Pete’s Bowl and Quick Lane Bowl had their moments in their own special way. Jealous of those who are home to watch bad bowls.
Cactus Bowl: Boise State (-7.5) vs. Baylor 9:15 pm ESPN – Best bowl game of the day happens at the end of the day. Boise State and Baylor are two high-profile teams of the last few years. Baylor struggled down the stretch losing their last six games. Bears looked rather lifeless, but the thought of a new coach might spring hope eternal. Boise State brings a big-time rushing attack with Jeremy McNichols which could spell bad news for Baylor. He has a chance to break the single-season rushing record as well. Boise is a couple plays away from being unbeaten this year. They lost by a combined nine points. Let’s not overthink this… BOISE 41-24
Holiday Bowl: Minnesota vs. Washington State (-10) 6:00 pm ESPN – What a weird game from the outside looking in. This game should have been a fun contrast of styles with the up-tempo Cougs offense with the tough as nails Minnesota defense. Luke Falk comes back for another year, and he looks for a big evening against Minnesota. Mitch Leidner can put up some points, but how many? Golden Gophers defense is a strong, but they’ve given up way too many big plays. That’s a bad thing to do when playing Washington State’s offense and Falk. Cougs roll in the second half to a big victory. WAZZU 42-30
Heart of Dallas Bowl: Army (-10) vs. North Texas 11:00 am ESPN – So far, the first two 5-7 teams are 2-0, and I believe they’re 5-0 since we started having this problem. North Texas is the last one of 2016 bowl season. They face a red-hot Army team who could be heading for a letdown after their big win versus Navy. Mean Green beat Golden Knights earlier this season with a 35-18 victory on the road. Therefore, I can’t understand why they’re a 10 point underdog. Sure, North Texas lost the last four of five in dominating fashion, but I still will lean that this game is close. I love Amad Bradshaw’s game so he does enough to get Army the bowl win, but it’s much closer than the spread. ARMY 30-27
Military Bowl: 24. Temple (-12) vs. Wake Forest 2:30 pm ESPN – To me, this is one of the ugliest bowls all year. It’s in the DC area and weather is always bad, yet it’s a beautiful 64 tomorrow. Temple loses their coach, and they’re still a 12-point favorite. That seems high. Wake had their Wakey Leaks thing, but their defense is damn good. Further, their team wants to move past this whole thing and make a statement to Owls and the nation. Temple is going to win this game, but it’s going to be close. Wake keeps most of their games close due to their defense. TEMP 23-20
