Brett Phillips Showed Off His Cannon Arm Tonight

Brett Phillips had himself a night as the centerfielder for the Milwaukee Brewers. He got a chance to start tonight, and Phillips made the most of it. He ended up with 3 RBIs and three hits including some stellar defense. The best play of the night from Phillips was an absolute rocket home where he gunned David Freese trying to score. They clocked it at 104 miles per hour and Phillips thought that was slow. This kid looked special tonight at Miller Park.

This is the type of throw that makes runners think twice about testing you. I fucking love having an outfielder who can gass it from deep. Honestly, every fly ball or hearing ‘player x is trying to stretch to third’ that much more exciting because you know there’s a chance that runner can be out.
From all indications, Phillips will likely get a start this weekend. Sadly for him, there are two lefties ready to go for Miami with Adam Conley on Friday and Dillon Peters on Sunday. He clearly wants more playing time as some in the media made it clear to us and his manager is noticing it. Keon Broxton provides more pop than Phillips, but is it crazy to think that they couldn’t platoon down the stretch. My guess is we’ll start seeing more of that much like we do with Jesus Aguliar and Eric Thames.
Charlie.
