Sometimes, you just see the ball better against teams. Milwaukee blew out Philadelphia twice last week in the City of Brotherly Love. On Friday, they continueed the same theme in the Cream City. Milwaukee scored 12 runs again versus the Phillies in a 12-3 for the Brewers’ third straight victory. Brewers received another great starting pitching performance with Brent Suter doing the damn thing on the mound and with his bat for seven innings. Milwaukee has now scored 38 runs versus Philadelphia in four games.

Player of the Game: Brent Suter – What a game for Suter. He told the reporters after the game that ‘I’m locked in at the plate’ which is a fucking fantastic comment from a pitcher. He isn’t lying. The Brewers left-hander went 1-for-2, but he ended up on base four times. Suter is hitting .222 for the season with an OBP of .364. He also did it on the mound with seven innings of solid pitching striking out three batters and allowing only one run with six hits. Brewers’ starting pitching continues to roll. They haven’t allowed more than a run in the last three games.

Silver Star: Hernan Perez – He’s not a favorite by analysts, but there are games where he pulls the rabbit out of his hat. Perez went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI. He played very well on Friday evening. You just wish Perez would take some goddamn walks. He’s a .260 hitter this season, but he has an OBP of .280. That’s amazingly hard to do. Very much a boom/bust player.

Honorable Mention: Lorenzo Cain – He continues to roll on in this home stand. Cain went 2-for-5 doing the little things on Friday night like he’s been doing all season. Cain scored twice and drove in two runs including a double versus Jake Arrieta to score Suter. Christian Yelich drove him in with a big two-run home run to break the game wide open. We talked about on the podcast, but Cain is the MVP of this baseball team. T

Next up: Brewers will try to cure their one Philadelphia demon with Zach Elfin this afternoon. Elfin is notably bad against left-handers, but that didn’t stop him from being a god on Saturday afternoon. Junior Guerra gets the ball for Milwaukee, and he continues to be a boss on the ball. We’ll see if Milwaukee can keep it going on what will be a hot day at Miller Park.
