Milwaukee Brewers trailed 4-0 early on in the game against the Washington Nationals. Brewers were looking to win their second straight game for the first time since early July, but it did not look good early on. It would have been disappointing since Trea Turner and Bryce Harper were both missing from the game. Milwaukee battled back though led by Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich who combined for seven of the 12 hits on Tuesday night. They led almost all of the scoring and won the game in 10 innings.

Player of the Game: Christian Yelich – You could pick either Cain or Yelich for the player of the game, but Yelich is that dude. He went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and also helped set the table in the 10th inning to get the game-winning run. Yelich is playing such good baseball right now. In March, I made a case that he could be an MVP this season, and in a wide open race in the National League, Yelich needs to be considered if this continues for him.

Silver Star: Lorenzo Cain – Welcome back, Lo Cain. After his struggles during the second half, he broke out in a huge way. Cain had four hits with one RBI and two run scored in this one. Cain played really well last night. He’s the straw that stirs the drink for the Brewers. This team is entirely different when Cain is hitting the baseball. He had a great game.

Honorable Mention: Junior Guerra – So Guerra did give up four runs, yes. Only one run was earned. He struck out four batters and pitched six innings. Guerra added two doubles from the nine spot, and one of those hits resulted in a run scored thanks to Eric Thames grounding out. Guerra keeps being a consistent force for Milwaukee. The left-handed troubles are starting to be a thing again for him, but hopefully, Guerra can work around it.

Next up: No rest for the wicked as the Brewers and Nationals are back at it this afternoon. Freddy Peralta takes the mound for the first time in awhile, and this is probably the toughest lineup he’s faced in his young career. Nationals send Tanner Roark to the hill. He’s been very bad of late and has issues against lefties for his career. Hello, Mr. Yelich, Thames and Shaw.
