BrewCap: Embarrassing Effort as Dodgers Dominate

After a successful Saturday night at the ballpark, the Milwaukee Brewers looked like they were going to pick off where they left off with two runs scored in the first inning. Los Angeles Dodgers scored 11 unanswered runs and beat Milwaukee, 11-2, where the Brewers had to use two positional players to pitch. People have a right to be concerned with the Brewers right now. They aren’t in a great spot. Brewers lose their third straight series, which, is something they haven’t done all season.
Player of the Game: Matt Kemp – It’s pretty incredible to watch the year and month that Matt Kemp is having for the Dodgers. He slugged two home runs and added another single for a 3-for-5 day at the dish. Kemp is looking like the National League Player of the Month, and he’s a candidate to win MVP in 2018. He’s like the Jeremy Jeffress of hitters. Kemp is just comfortable playing at Dodger Stadium and for this team.
Silver Star: Chris Taylor – He had one hit, but it was a big one for the Dodgers. Taylor singled in two runs to keep the inning alive in the second as Brent Suter battled on the mound. He’s an impressive hitter and a player who can be a difference maker. Taylor kept that inning going as Los Angeles added two more runs after him.
Honorable Mention: Travis Shaw – There isn’t much from the Milwaukee Brewers side to get excited about but it was nice to see Shaw break out of his issues with left-handers with the bases loaded in the first inning. Shaw hit a two-run single off Alex Wood. Also, Shaw has been brutal this season with the bases loaded this year as that was his first hit this year with the bases juiced. Shaw is one of the many players that Milwaukee could use to get on a hot streak.
Next up: Brewers face their fourth straight left-hander when Gio Gonzalez goes for Washington. Gonzalez has been a gas can in recent outings, so, hopefully, Milwaukee can get to him. Jesus Aguilar should be staring dead red at dingers. Brewers send Jhouyls Chacin to the mound. Chacin put together a nice start in Pittsburgh minus Corey Dickerson, and he will hope that his first start back will be a productive one.
