Monday night was a weird game. I forgot a BrewCap after taping a podcast after I stayed up for a marathon of a game that didn’t end until 1:15 am. Last night is a little different. The Milwaukee Brewers took care of the Los Angeles Dodgers in less than two and a half hours sending them to their third straight loss. Brewers won 1-0, and they’ve held Los Angeles to a grand total of one run in this series. They’re now tied for the Chicago Cubs for the National League Central lead. Milwaukee put a big middle finger to those concerned they didn’t get a starter at the trade deadline.

Player of the Game: Wade Miley – Has Derek Johnson done it again? Wade Miley continues to be pretty reliable for this Brewers team. He goes seven innings with no runs allowed and strikes out five batters. He walked two and got around one near big fly from Cody Bellinger. Miley is pitching well for this team, and that’s a very encouraging thing for this team. He’s a vital asset to have whether it’s at the backend of the rotation or a long reliever in the postseason.

Silver Star: Lorenzo Cain – What a night for LoCain. He gets the only run of the game plating Christian Yelich on an RBi double then he robs Bellinger of a game-tying home run in the seventh inning. It was awesome to see how fired up Cain and his teammates were after he made that catch. It appears there’s some good vibes found out in the West Coast, and the Brewers are feeding off of it.

Honorable Mention: Jeremy Jeffries – People want to see Jeffress close more games, and I don’t blame them after tonight. He stood down Chris Taylor, Manny Machado and Matt Kemp and got them out in order. There wasn’t even an ounce of a worry. Machado had one big lash foul but then JJ followed it up with a strikeout. I’m getting more and more on board with the idea of a split role.

Next up: Brewers try to win their second straight road four-game road stand when Chase Anderson goes on the hill for Milwaukee. He did an okay job in facing the Dodgers back at Miller Park. Rich Hill goes for Los Angeles. He was filthy the last time he faced the Brewers, and the last time out versus Atlanta. We’ll see if the new look Brewers can get to him on Wednesday night. My guess is the lineup will be Cain-Yelich-Aguilar-Braun-Schoop-Moose-Pina-Arica. Should be a fun night to see the debut of Jonathan Schoop.
