Brewers started off strong on Tuesday night. They led the game 4-0 at the end of the first inning. Milwaukee had chances in the second and third inning as well. But the San Diego Padres found their offensive stroke once again with 11 runs against Milwaukee. San Diego scored double-digit runs in consecutive games for the first time since June 2016. This is a horrible loss for the Brewers. They have to take advantage against weak teams especially when Chicago is playing an equally weak team in Kansas City. Brewers are now 2.5 back with the Cubs winning again yesterday.

Player of the Game: Manuel Margot – What a game from the Padres leadoff hitter. Margot had three hits and five runs scored. He hit a home run and also tripled where he ended up scoring as well. Milwaukee had some issues in getting him out on Tuesday night. He also scored twice as well. Margot played like a true force on Tuesday evening. I’m not sure where this came from with the Padres outfielder.

Silver Star: Franmil Reyes – Seriously, watch out for the Padres in a couple years. Reyes is one of their many young stars. He showed what he’s about on Tuesday night. Reyes had three hits and got on base four times. After a failed bunt attempt by Freddy Galvis, Reyes drove in two runs off the unstoppable Josh Hader. He also included a home run in this game. Reyes isn’t fully there yet, but he’s a complete stud in the making.

Honorable Mention: Hunter Renfroe – Yes, this is one of the rare instances where I am not featuring a single Brewers player. Only one Milwaukee hitter had two hits. And that player’s two hits were in the first and third inning. All of the pitches gave up at at least one run, and four of those pitchers gave up two or more runs. Congrats to Hunter Renfroe who put the dagger in Milwaukee with a huge home run that put San Diego up 9-5.

Next up: Milwaukee-San Diego do it again for Game 2. Jhouyls Chacin is looking for a bounceback after a tough start versus Los Angeles. He’s been better at home this season plus they do not have many lefties in the lineup. San Diego brings Brett Kennedy in his major league debut. Kennedy has been a strikeout machine in AAA, and Brewers struggle with major league debuts.
