BrewCap: Reds Bats Beat Up the Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers did it again. They won the first two games of a four game set with a team then they went on to lose two straight games. Milwaukee has been in a weird pattern of wins and losses for the last two weeks. They cannot seem to string together three straight wins. But at the same point, they cannot lose three straight games either. They’re a weird team right now. Thanks to Minnesota not being able to pitch, Chicago is only a half game back of Milwaukee. Brewers need to figure some things out.
Player of the Game: Jose Peraza – The only reason this game reached blowout status was due to Jose Peraza launching a grand slam off Aaron Wilkerson in the sixth inning. Peraza had two hits in the game going two-for-five with the biggest hit of the game. Peraza had himself a nice series. He’s been a pain in the Brewers side when the Brewers-Reds have gotten together this year.
Silver Star: Matt Harvey – Man, it seems like the Reds might have done it again. Like they did with Scooter Gennett a couple years ago, they picked somebody off the scrap heap and may have found gold. Harvey pitched great today going nearly six innings with no runs allowed and six strikeouts. He would have kept pitching if it were not for the rain. Harvey has won his last three starts with allowing less than six hits in each start and allowed less than three runs in each of the games.
Honorable Mention: Freddy Peralta – Here’s the thing. Freddy Peralta did not have a good start, and the Brewers were one bad inning from it being 0-0 when the rains came down in Cincinnati. Peralta did really well to recover going five innings with only three walks and five strikeouts. He’s not going to be masterful every time out. I know we want it, but it’s just not possible Interested to see how he performs against Atlanta this weekend.

Milwaukee heads back home to get it started with the aforementioned Minnesota club that gave up everything to the Chicago Cubs. Kyle Gibson will go for the Twins, and he did not perform well the last time he faced Milwaukee earlier this season. Brent Suter goes for Milwaukee. He took a tough loss last Wednesday, and he’ll have to deal with a Twins team that launched baseballs out of Wrigley Field.
