Over the weekend, we talked about how you can be .500 on the road as long as you take care of business your home park. Milwaukee is not doing that in the early part of the season. They are an abysmal 2-6 at home, and they’ve been blown out on multiple occasions. Reds were ice cold coming into this game, yet they erupted for 10 runs in a 10-4 rout of Milwaukee to take Game 1 of the series. This is a head-scratcher.

Actually, I was right about Oliver Drake
On Saturday, I had a blurb about potentially being wrong about Oliver Drake. He looked really good against New York, and then he turned around on Tuesday to completely shit himself. The decision to intentionally walk Phil Gosselin backfired in a major way when the pitcher Luis Castillo had a two-run single to go up 6-0. The flood gates opened after that one. I get the idea of wanting to face the pitcher, but maybe, try to get a weak eighth hitter out. Just a thought.
Why didn’t Ryan Braun hit in the fifth inning?

Craig Counsell does not have a deep bench right now. They called up Jacob Nottingham, a catcher prospect, while putting Manny Pina on the Disabled List, but still, the bench isn’t what it was on Opening Day. Still, Ryan Braun is available to pinch hit with his bad back. Why didn’t he get a look with two runners on with two outs and a chance to make it a 3-2 game. You have to bat Braun there, and hope it doesn’t burn you late. Counsell worried too much about what’s ahead in this game, instead of playing for the right now.

Jorge Lopez looked solid in his first outing of the year
Brewers brought up Jorge Lopez over the weekend, and he made an impact in Monday’s night game. Lopez went three innings with one run earned and a few strikeouts. It’s good to see another young guy pitch well for this team. He also preserved the bullpen for the rest of the week. Going three innings meant that the rest of the pen minus Drake is fully rested for tonight’s game.

Milwaukee will try to turn around their home luck in a game that I feel many eyeballs will not be towards them with the Bucks in action around the same time. Junior Guerra will try to emulate what he did in St. Louis while Sal Romano goes for Cincinnati. Brewers tagged Romano pretty good last season. Let’s hope it continues tomorrow night.
