BrewCap: Same Start, Different Result for the Brewers

Milwaukee Brewers started the same way on Wednesday night like they did on Tuesday night with a big first inning. This time though, the start finished better with the Brewers winning 8-4 against the San Diego Padres. Milwaukee scored six runs in the first two innings then added a couple more with homers from Christian Yelich and Orlando Arcia. Brewers gained a game on the Chicago Cubs who were blown out by the Kansas City Royals last night. That was almost refreshing considering how bad Milwaukee played on Tuesday night.
Player of the Game: Jesus Aguilar – Zeus had the same start as Tuesday which is a good thing because he’s starting to get hot again. Aguilar hit a three run homer in the first inning to lead off the scoring. He added another hit later in the game. Aguilar is heating up after a cold July. He’s inching closer to 30 homers, and there’s a good chance he’ll get to 40 this season.
Silver Star: Tavis Shaw – Hear me out about Travis Shaw. He did not have a great season until the last few weeks. Is it possible that him getting more time off has made him see the ball more? With his various injuries, Shaw might have needed more time off. He’s rolling right now. Shaw hit a home run and added another hit as well. In his last seven days, he’s hitting .278 with three home runs.
Honorable Mention: Orlando Arcia – Here we go with Arcia. I love what he’s showing recently. Arcia went 3-3 with his first three hit since May 1st and his first homer since April 19th. The young shortstop’s average is up to .210 which is 10 points higher in the last two weeks or so. These are all encouraging signs for Arcia.
Next up: Milwaukee finishes off the series with San Diego this afternoon. They’ve been pretty poor during the day this season, so, let’s hope things change this time around. Robbie Erlin has been sneaky good for the Padres since entering the rotation, but Milwaukee is a different team of late versus left-handers. Brewers send Junior Guerra to the hill who was great in his last start here at Miller Park. Let’s hope that continues.
