We always talk about Brewers Killers. Billy Hamilton is a great example of this for the Cincinnati Reds. But the Brewers have their own version against the Reds, and that’s Eric Thames. He’s hit 13 home runs in 20 games versus Cincinnati. He completely owns them. It’s amazing to see what he’s been able to do against one team. Reds tried to curb it with bringing in left-hander Amir Garrett, and that did not work for them. Milwaukee gets a win out of their ass with a 6-4 victory. It’s an impressive one without question.

Player of the Game: Eric Thames – This is an obvious one. Thames is the difference maker in this game with a three-run homer in the seventh inning. Even though he struck out twice, Thames got his stroke right when it mattered the most. The Brewers slugger made up for his blunder in the first inning in right field that allowed a run early on. You have to think Cincinnati fans fears him whenever he gets up to the plate.

Silver Star: Jesus Aguilar – The other part of the offense for the Brewers. Jesus Aguilar did it again for Milwaukee. He hit a two-run homer to tie up the game early on in this matchup. Aguilar has now hit eight home runs in his last 12 games. He is also tied for the lead in homers for the National League with Bryce Harper. You wonder if he would be a fit in the Home Run Derby. It would be a fun story with a mammoth guy. The baseball world needs to know about the mighty Zeus.

Honorable Mention: Orlando Arica – This is an encouraging game from the young shortstop. He got on base three times in four times on Thursday evening. Two hits and a walk for Arica is one of the better games we’ve seen in the last few weeks. Could this be a turnaround for him? We’ll see. Arcia had a couple multi-hit games this season, but he never seems to follow up on it.

Next up
Brewers-Reds get together tomorrow for Game 2 where you could have balls flying out of the ballpark yet again. Sal Romano is a gas can and pitches directly to contact. Brewers have some great numbers against him. Chase Anderson goes for Milwaukee, and he’s been a marginal pitcher this season. We’ll see if Anderson can pull it together.
