Milwaukee Brewers went down early in their game against the New York Mets on Saturday afternoon. I didn’t worry too much about the Crew at this point given Jason Vargas has been a gas can all season. This proved to be true. They knotted up the game at three after the first inning, and after the Mets go up two runs, Brewers kept their offense rolling led by Christian Yelich. The explosion happened in the seventh inning when Milwaukee put up seven runs. This is the second game in four that Milwaukee scored seven runs in an inning.

Player of the Game: Christian Yelich – I thought about how we didn’t have a signature Yelich game yet. Like he did have the big home run last Saturday against Minnesota, but this felt more what we expect with Yelich. He went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, three runs driven in and a homer away from the cycle. Great damn game from Yelich.

Silver Star: Lorenzo Cain – With how good Yelich was yesterday, Cain played equally as well. Cain went 3-for-4 with two walks. It’s the second time in his career where Cain got on-base five times in a game. He helped set the table for Yelich and company in this game. This one-two punch continues to be special for Milwaukee.

Honorable Mention: Jesus Aguilar – Granted, it’s just one month in, but is Jesus Aguilar an All-Star candidate? He’s on fire for the entire month of May since Eric Thames went on the disabled list and probably a lock to be the Brewers’ player of the month. Aguilar hit another home run yesterday with a complete moonshot. He’s hit seven this month and continues to be a key cog in Milwaukee’s restaurant.

Next up: Milwaukee finishes off their series and the season with the New York Mets. Jhouyls Chacin will try to keep up his hot pitching month. He struggles against lefties usually which could be an issue with New York given Jay Bruce, Michael Conforto and Brandon Nimmo.
