Once again, the Milwaukee Brewers are taking someone from the Chicago Cubs organization. Andy Haines will be the new hitting coach for the Milwaukee Brewers. He assisted Chili Davis with the Cubs last season, but he spent a ton of time with Christian Yelich in the minor leagues. Obviously, the Brewers checked in with Yelich before making this decision, and I’m sure this played into the decision made by the Crew. Some might bristle at the idea of getting another guy from the Cubs, but personally, I like the move from Milwaukee.

First of all, the idea of having intel on the Cubs pitchers is great. Brewers struggled so much with Jose Quintana and other Cubs pitchers. Secondly, Haines knows the National League Central pitchers from last year. I like the idea that he worked with Yelich through his career. If he molded Yeli into the professional hitter that he is right now, hopefully he can do the same for the young hitters on the Brewers.

Hitting coaches and pitching coaches are one of those things we have to be patient on when the new season begins for the Brewers. No way to judge them until at least middle way through June. Remind me of this post if I rip one in a podcast next April.
