Brewers Look to Cure Their Pirates’ Woes

Pittsburgh Pirates own the Milwaukee Brewers this year. Pirates filipped from the switch from years past where the Buccos couldn’t win at Miller Park, and the team notoriously struggled versus Milwaukee. Brewers are looking to change course starting tonight. Milwaukee should smell blood in the water as the Pirates come in reeling with losing three straight in a sweep from the Braves, They’ve lost 8 of their last 10 games. The time is right for the Brewers to reverse course on Pittsburgh and make something happen.
It starts tonight with Wade Miley and Joe Musgrove on the mound. Brewers could use the first win to get them flowing for the rest of the weekend. Pirates are one of the few teams that got to him this season earlier in the year at PNC Park. Miley does not face an easy order with multiple guys having great numbers versus lefties, but the true Brewers killer Jody Mercer is on the Disabled List which is huge for everyone involved trying to beat Pittsburgh. Right now, the Pirates are not hitting the ball at all. They’ve been putrid in the last eight games scoring a grand total of 7 runs and being shutout three times
Brewers should get some help in their bullpen. Joakim Soria is due back from injury tonight, and they may get Matt Albies back too. Soria is a welcomed sight to see as Milwaukee scuffled through some late game issues. It’s unsure whether Albers will come back, or the team will wait on the 40 man. Regardless, he’s another body, but I’m unsure you can trust him. Milwaukee could add another pitcher as well versus not going the Albers route if you’ve been reading the news surrounding the team.
It’s vital that Milwaukee starts to figure out Pittsburgh this weekend. The Pirates are the team Milwaukee has the most games left with all season with nine remaining games versus this squad. They need to set the tone that these next nine are a little different than the first ten.
