Bucks 127 Nets 104: Bucks Send a Message to the NBA

Milwaukee Bucks opened their season with an absolute bang on Tuesday night. They beat up the Brooklyn Nets with ease winning 127-104. Giannis led the way with 31 points, 14 rebounds, and 7 assists. He did that all in 30 minutes. Giannis and the boys did not get overcome with emotions after they were presented with NBA title rings. This is a good message to the league. These Bucks are not going to accept one title. They want more than just one.

Three things from this win over Brooklyn
1. Bucks’ bench is going to be a problem for other teams – This stood out to me as the biggest part of the Bucks’ success last night. It was not only the big three (Ended up being the big two since Jrue Holiday went down). The bench played great. Pat Connaughton had 20 points and Jordan Nwora had 15 points. If the Bucks are getting 35 points from two guys off the bench, good luck.
2. Brooklyn’s problems last year were their problems this year – They have no one to deal with the Bucks inside. The Nick Claxton stuff worked a little bit and gave them more of a presence. But he’s not a force. Milwaukee had 20 more shots than the Nets. Kevin Durant talked about it after the game. That’s the difference right there with the two teams.
3. Giannis’ free throws – The guy made seven of nine from the free-throw line. Hope you liked counting last year because Antetokounmpo finished in four or five seconds which would make Rick Pitino blush. This is a huge step in the right direction. It’s one game, and free throws are completely mental yet it’s a sign pointing in the right direction.
Next up: Bucks head to Miami for their first meeting with the new-look Heat. The Heat will be opening up their season against the Bucks. The last time these two teams played, Milwaukee swept them out of the playoffs.
