Bucks are All-Star Game’s Biggest Winners
Team Giannis did not finish the job last night. They had a lead heading into mid-third quarter, and then, the hot shooting of Team LeBron woke up. They pulled away at the end meaning Giannis will have to wait another year to the All-Star Game MVP. Some could make the argument that Giannis might have deserved it, even though, his team did not win. The Milwaukee Bucks franchise won the night with Giannis and Khris Middleton combining for 58 points with many moments with each other like Midds getting hot in the second quarter. Giannis had so many highlight reel plays, you couldn’t help but love the fact he plays for our fucking city.
All-Star Games get remembered much like Finals do if there’s a reason. Some fade away while others stick with you. Part of me feels like the latter happened last night. Even though Kevin Durant took home the MVP trophy, Giannis should be the topic of discussion. If it’s possible to have a breakout game in the All-Star Game, Antetokounmpo had a moment. The stat line of 38-11-6 in a game that doesn’t matter is fucking incredible. For many who might not be that familiar with the Bucks, Antetokounmpo made sure they know damn well what they’re missing out on. TNT had to love his performance considering he and the Bucks will face off against Boston on Thursday night.
While Giannis stole the show, Middleton made a dash for the All-Star Game MVP too. He had 20 points with six made three-pointers. I do think some Bucks fans wondered ‘Where is this all year?’ Khris isn’t one to shoot 10 threes in a game, but maybe, he should try every now and again. As pointed out by media types, Middleton defers to Giannis a bunch, and it’s not something that bothers him all that much. He isn’t outspoken about it or thinks a change is needed. I do think this performance drew a ton of attention from the contending teams who might want to add another piece of their roster next summer.
Bucks are the best team in basketball, and last night, the two top Bucks were the best part of the All-Star game.
Charlie.
