Bucks Buzz Vol. 45: Another Late Game Disaster

We’re at the scene where Lloyd telling Harry ‘OUR PETS HEADS ARE FALLING OFF!’ Bucks have lost five of their last six. Milwaukee is 5-8 for the month of January. Worst part about tonight is Bucks had a spirited comeback only to fall apart in the final minute. Yet another game where Bucks should have won it, but they crumbled down the stretch letting the young Sixers, this time without Joel Embiid, beat Milwaukee, 114-109
Player of the Game: Greg Monroe (Bucks) – What a game by the Moose. He should have done the Ed Reed in the postgame presser, ‘I PUT MY HEART IN THIS SHIT, DAwG!’ Moose did everything he could to give Milwaukee this ball game. Monroe finished with 28 points and nine rebounds. He had a couple great hustle plays as well. Monroe did everything you want from a big man tonight. Curious if his name comes up in trade talks if Bucks continue to falter in the coming weeks.
(Not) Player of the Game: Giannis Antetokounmpo (Bucks) – Yup. First time in a long time for Giannis in this section. He did have 17-12-5 which is a good night for most guys. But Giannis is on a new standard, and the fact he missed seven threes tonight really hurt the team. The final one was atrocious. Giannis pulled a Westbrook and tried to make a three without any ball movement, just a jacked three with 12 seconds left. Giannis is athletic enough to get to the hoop and see about an old-fashioned three with eight seconds left. Jason Kidd burning a timeout with 35 seconds to run some backdoor play which we’ll get to in a second really hurt them.
Positive: Bucks fought back – Milwaukee didn’t wave the white flag tonight which is good. They still showed an ounce of caring. The crazy thing is if they just held serve in the second quarter and led by six at the break. They would have ran Philadelphia out of the gym. They were the better team for three quarters, and the second quarter went haywire yet again. Kidd needs to figure out how to prevent this from happening.
Negative: Jason Kidd pulls an Andy Reid – What a clusterfuck for Kidd in the final couple minutes. Malcolm Brogdon plays a huge role in getting the team back, and instead of riding the hot hand, Matthew Dellavedova whose playing better, but still, gets the final minutes. Next, he calls his last timeout with 35 seconds to run a gadget play for the lead. Now, if Monroe finds Giannis, this is a different post yet this isn’t the type of game for cute shit. Kidd overthought himself there. And then he had no timeout with the team down three with 15 seconds left leading to a terrible Giannis shot.
Next up: A trip to Canada where things have been real bad for Bucks. They never play Raptors well. We said this team needed to go 2-2 this week for me to feel good, and they should be playing with house money this weekend. Raptors have lost two straight and will play their third game in four days on Friday night. DeMar DeRozan not playing would be big in this one. He’s a game-time call.
Charlie.
