Bucks Buzz: Bucks Dismantle Brooklyn for a 4-1 Road Trip
If the Milwaukee Bucks lost on Monday night, no one would have blamed them. In Brooklyn on Monday night, Milwaukee had their fifth game in 10 days that have all been on the road. The team has went from Oklahoma City-Detroit-Toronto-Washington DC-Brooklyn. That’s a helluva road trip for Milwaukee. They only get to return home for a game until it’s back on a plane to Dallas on Friday.Amid all of that, the Bucks have won four straight and rolling again. They dominated Brooklyn with a resounding 113-94 victory. Bucks are now an eye-popping 26 games over .500
Player of the Game: Giannis Antetokounmpo – Another game, another big one for Giannis. He took control early on with 16 first half points, and Antetokounmpo carried it over to the second half as well. Giannis finished with 37 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists. The triple-double eluded him in the fourth quarter as he could not connect one more assist. Regardless, this felt like one of those peak-Antetokounmpo games where you do reflect on how good he is as a player for this basketball team.
Silver Star: Eric Bledsoe – Do you think Eric Bledsoe didn’t like that D’Angelo Russell made the All-Star team over him? The motivation was there on Monday night. Bledsoe played his ass off and did everything you wanted from a point guard on Monday night. Bledsoe finished the game with 15 points, five assists and five steals. Bledsoe was a terror defensively frustrating both Russell and Shabazz Napier all game long.
Positive: Defense didn’t falter – Again, this is a game where you may have seen the defense not there for Milwaukee, and that didn’t happen as Bucks held Brooklyn under 100 points. Before the Nets loss in Orlando on Saturday, they scored over 100 points in eleven straight games. Bucks also held them under 100 with great defense forcing bad shot after bad shot from the Nets. The home team shot 32 percent from the field and eleven percent from three.
Negative: Bucks didn’t have it from deep – I’d have to look back it more but it does seem Milwaukee having more games where they cannot hit anything from three. That continued last night as Milwaukee only made 10 threes in 39 attempts. That’s a woeful number for Milwaukee. It could be the only example of the legs being tired from the long road trip.
Highlight of the night: Bledsoe to Giannis alley-oop was a thing of beauty.
Next up: Bucks return home to play Washington for the second time in five days. This will be on ESPN Wednesday night with Jay Bilas on the call. Bucks should receive some love from both the broadcast and the studio team with the way they hare playing right now. Wizards are struggling of late losing four of their last five games and giving up a boatload of points.
