Bucks Buzz: Comeback of Legends Last Night in Miami
After the first quarter, most Bucks fans thought the same thing… “The South Beach flu.” Milwaukee trailed by as many as 23 points last night, and they found a way to win the game. Not only did they find a way, but they ended up winning by 16 points. In the first quarter, Bovada had the Bucks live moneyline odds at +285. People thought the Bucks would pack it in…. NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND! Milwaukee delivers with a second half of legends against Miami outscoring the Heat, 71-36. This is one of the best Bucks wins of the season.
Player of the Game Part I: Giannis Antetokounmpo – What a night from Giannis. As Kane Pittman mentioned last night on Twitter, ‘If you want an MVP performance, here it is.” Giannis led the team from the depths of hell to deliver an iconic performance with 33 points, 16 rebounds and nine assists. Antetokounmpo dropped in a late-game three to seal it for Milwaukee. That’s become my new favorite move is a defender plays off of him late because they don’t want him to drive to the basket and he sprays a three. Guy is the fucking best.
Player of the Game Part II: Khris Middleton – Usually, we look at a secondary player of the game, but this is worth of a Player of the Game as well. Milwaukee does not win this game without Khris Middleton. He was massive for the Bucks in the third quarter. Middleton finished with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists on eight-of-16 shooting. He had a helluva third quarter. What I’ve noticed recently about Midds is when he knows he’s heating up, the ball stays with him. This happened against Minnesota a couple weeks ago, and it happened again last night. The Bucks guard is being a little more selfish, and I love that.
Positive: This is the Ersan I want – Bucks Twitter has a love/hate relationship with Ersan Ilyasova. It usually has to do with the team they’re playing that night. If it’s a fast-paced team, it’s hate. If it’s a slow-paced team, it can be love. This version of Ersan is exactly what I want every game out. He played a major role in that comeback as well in the third quarter. Ilyasova finished with 15 points and three made 3-pointers. After being ice cold to start year from three, Ilyasova is shooting 45 and 42 percent from deep in the last two months.
Negative: Bucks can’t do this all the time – Look, I loved this comeback. It made me feel better about the calamity of the Marquette game. But they need to come out with more emotion in the first half. I know they want the playoffs to start tomorrow, but these games against inferior opponents, Milwaukee cannot always turn the lights on against bad teams. We’ll see how Bucks come out versus Los Angeles on Tuesday night.
Highlight of the Night: This Giannis pass is fucking ridiculous, y’all.
What a comeback! 🔝🔝🔝

Next up: Bucks take on the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday afternoon at the Fiserv Forum. The game will be on ABC, and that’s very exciting. I don’t know the last time the Bucks were the primetime afternoon game. It had to be in 2001 and at that time, we were listening to Roundball Rock on NBC, not FOX. This is a huge mental game for Milwaukee. If they can beat Philadelphia tomorrow, they hold a big mental edge against them heading into the playoffs.
