Bucks Buzz: Lopez Lights It Up In Surprising Win

When Brook Lopez joined the Milwaukee Bucks, I don’t think anyone expected him to make 15 threes in two games, but here we are. Lopez played a large part in the Milwaukee Bucks winning their second game on their road trip and finishing it .500. Last night was the best win of the season for the Milwaukee Bucks. They won a back-to-back in Denver where it’s very hard to win especially on a back-to-back and a final game on the road trip. After a fourth quarter lapse, they could have called it a night, but instead, they won the fucking game. Amazing effort by the team in a 121-114 win. Bucks are now 10-3 heading home for eight of the next 10.
Player of the Game: Brook Lopez – This is obvious. Lopez is playing like a man possessed right now. He didn’t worry about an LA Flu or going back-to-back, he just kept draining threes. Lopez had 25 points tonight with a career-high eight threes. The thing about his three-point shots is they weren’t easy three-pointers. They didn’t all happen from the corner. Rather, he splashed it from all over the three-point arc and deep. Lopez is out of this world right now. John Henson had a great quote about what he’s doing right now.

Honorable Mention: Eric Bledsoe – Yes, I know the Eric Bledsoe experience is terribly frustrating on a regular basis. But, the guy can come up with big moments. Bledsoe made a big steal as Milwaukee found themselves in a funk down the stretch in the fourth quarter. He found a way to pull Milwaukee back into this game. Bledsoe also worked a perfect out-of-bounds play to seal the game. Bled finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
One Thing I Like: Never say die – Like we mentioned, this game looked over early on in the fourth quarter. Bucks trailed by six points with five minutes left. The team looked completely out of gas, and yet, they fought all the way back to win the game. That’s something we haven’t seen from the Bucks in the past. Last few years, they would sort of lag and let the other team win. Not this year. They are ruthless and showed every NBA team that this evening.
One Thing I don’t like: Giannis’ free throws – Oh boy. This is not a good development. Over the past two days, GIannis Antetokounmpo is shooting 4-16 from the free throw line. That’s horrendous. He needs to get things fixed from the line as soon as possible. Good news for Giannis is the Bucks have a couple days off, so, he can spend time working on his throws.
Highlight of the night: Lopez goes splash brother – Seriously, they were talking after the game about Lopez being a splash brother, and I must say, this type of range is some Steph Curry type shit from Brook.

Next up: Milwaukee heads home to play Memphis on Wednesday night. Grizzlies are playing better than expected to start the year with a very impressive home record. They beat Philadelphia on Saturday. Grizzlies struggled away from home going 2-4 thus far. Marc Gasol always has been a terror against Milwaukee, but hopefully with Lopez, that can change this time around.
