Bucks Buzz: Milwaukee Dominates Dallas in Big D
Okay… This is a couple days late. I realize this and know that in blogger world, it’s a Ricky Bobby society. Still, I want to get some shots up on Sunday night if that’s okay with everyone. Milwaukee Bucks faced a tough challenge this weekend heading to Dallas for yet another road game. After Milwaukee came home for one game, they flew back out but that didn’t seem to phase Milwaukee. The Bucks rolled through Dallas with another double-digit win. It’s the first win for Milwaukee in Dallas since 2013. Good for Bucks to rid themselves of a bad losing streak.
Player of the Game: Giannis Antetokounmpo – Another MVP night for Giannis. He is incredible, guys. Like it is so casual with what he does with so many great games. Giannis finished with 29 points, 17 rebounds and five assists. He had an extremely efficient night with 13-for-19 from the field, and two of those misses were from deep meaning Giannis went 12-for-16 from inside the arc. With Dallas not having DeAndre Jordan, Giannis and the Bucks dominated the paint.
Silver Star: Brook Lopez – We’re giving it to Brook for Friday, but honestly, take your pick of the Bucks starters not named Giannis. Malcolm Brogdon, Eric Bledsoe and Lopez all had big games. Lopez finished with 20 points and six rebounds. Like Giannis, he took advantage of the lack of paint presence. In a rare performance for Lopez, he scored most of his points inside the arc with 14 there and six from deep. Bucks did not really need three-point assistance.
Positive: Bucks owned the paint – As mentioned with Giannis and Brook, Bucks were monsters in the paint. They scored 80 points in the paint. Rick Carlisle looked ready to rip his hair out if he actually hair. This is the second time this season where Milwaukee scored 80 or more inside the paint. They got whatever they wanted inside the arc on Friday.
Negative: Third quarter nap strikes again – Look, I know teams are going to get on runs, and Milwaukee ended up winning by 15 points. Yet they still let Dallas back into this basketball game for a little bit. They were only down eight points by the end of the third after Milwaukee had a 23 point lead with four minutes left in the same quarter. Bucks have this lackadaisical streak in them that’s going to bite them in the ass at some point.
Highlight of the Night: I’m here for Brook breaking someone’s ankles.
