Bucks Buzz: No Giannis, Same Dominating Bucks Basketball

On Monday night, the basketball game between the Toronto Raptors-Milwaukee Bucks featured two undefeated teams. It featured Kawhi Leonard and Giannis Antetokounmpo dueling off against each other. Only one of those things proved to be true. Kawhi and Giannis ended up not playing in this game. Leonard needed a day off while Antetokounmpo is in concussion protocol. Still, the matchup pitted two top teams in the Eastern Conference. Once again, the Bucks dominated the game and played great basketball. This time around though we saw the second half be the juggernaut basketball of Milwaukee’s professional team.
Player of the Game: Ersan Ilyasova – In my opinion, Ersan set the tone for this basketball game. No Giannis? So what. Ersan came through with a huge first half. He took charges and put buckets in everyone’s faces. Ilyasova finished with a season-high 19 points and 10 rebounds. This was a great sign for the Bucks and Mike Budenholzer. They can confidently rest Giannis if need be with Ersan being a reliable fill-in. He played his ass off on Monday.
Honorable Mention: Malcolm Brogdon – How about the Prez tonight. I think everyone thought we would get a big night out of Khris Middleton or Eric Bledsoe. Both played admirably yet Prezzy went off tonight. Brogdon finished with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists. He had a real control of the game. Brogdon did so many little things on the court tonight. He’s off to a wonderful start to eh season.
Thing I Like – The team, the team, the team – Goodness gracious, this Bucks team is starting to real adorn themselves to the city. Even without Kawhi, this is a playoff team, and Milwaukee blew them the hell out. It wasn’t even close in the second half. Middleton didn’t go off nor did Eric Bledsoe. They worked as a team. Six players scored in double figures. Brook Lopez and Pat Connaughton nearly ended up in double figures as well. How can you not love this basketball team?!
Thing I didn’t Like – Turnovers are still an issue for this team: Milwaukee is struggling in the turnover category. I’m not that worried about it honestly. At some point, it’s going to bite them in the ass and cost them a game yet I’m ready for those to calm down. They will once this team starts becoming even more comfortable with Bud’s system.
Highlight of the night – Um we blogged it. Watch John Henson’s dunk.
Next up: No rest for the wicked as the Milwaukee Bucks get a couple days off before heading to Boston. It’s a warmup for Packers-Patriots this weekend as Milwaukee takes on Boston. Giannis did watch the game from the sidelines which means he could be ready to go for Thursday. Boston is the best defense thus far in the league, so, this will not be easy.
