Bucks Buzz Vol. 28: Career-High Christmas Cheer

Milwaukee Bucks headed home for their last game at Bradley Center for 2016 to play Washington Wizards. Bucks had lost two straight to Cleveland and wanted to have a good holiday weekend before meeting Washington again on Monday night. They made damn sure of it. Bucks won 123-96 with their second blowout victory in a week. Giannis Antetokounmpo and Malcolm Brogdon both had career-high night in the victory.
Player of the Game (Bucks)- Giannis Antetokounmpo: As noted, he had a career-high 39 points with eight rebounds and six assists. He missed a free throw for 40 with the crowd chanting MVP. Giannis was everywhere on the court tonight. Washington had no answer for him all night long. This is the third straight game where Antetokounmpo got to the free throw line more than 10 times. Is he getting more calls? Or did his style change?
(Not) Player of the Game (Bucks) – Mirza Teletovic: Rough night for Mirza who had 25 points against this same Wizards team. He scored a goose egg with nine missed shots including six missed threes. That’s not the way to head into the Christmas weekend.
Player of the Game (Wizards) – Otto Porter: Good thing Washington didn’t trade him away. Otto Porter held this team together in the first half. He scored 16 of 18 in the first with four threes. Porter is a nice player for this Washington team. He’s a solid role player who has become a solid three-point shooter.
Positive: Malcolm Brogdon for ROY? – Is it ridiculous to talk about Malcolm Brogdon for Rookie of the Year? He continues to be impressive for Milwaukee off the bench. He scored 17 points on 7-for-7 shooting with three made threes and seven assists. Brogdon played great tonight off the bench. He’s such a valuable asset to Bucks team and helped deal with Khris Middleton injury.
Negative: Giannis didn’t get 40 – That’s about it. No reason to bitch about anything tonight.
Next Up: Bucks finish their six-game back-to-back experience with a date in D.C. on Monday. To me, it’s a house money game for Bucks. Worst case, they’re 3-3 and I can live with that. Given how bad they’ve been in Washington, it would be great to get another win.
