Bucks Buzz Vol. 40: The Great Philly Flub

What a bad loss. There’s no way around it. Philly came into Bradley Center on Monday afternoon and took Bucks lunch money in the fourth quarter. There’s not much more to say about this one. If you listen to Mitch and I, we talk about how this Bucks season is a roller coaster. I looked over at him while we attended this putrid game and said ‘This is a low point on the coaster.’ But this might be the lowest with 40 games in the season. You can’t lose to a team like Sixers at home even though Philly is playing good basketball of late.
Player of the Game (Bucks): Giannis Antetokounmpo – So here’s the thing, Giannis did not play well in the second half, but the first half was so awesome. Giannis looked great out there with 21 points. He had many great plays including the back down, turn around flush on Gerald Henderson plus included a stink face at the end. The second half wasn’t the same thing. He should have dropped 35 to 40 on this team. What a bummer.
(Not) Coach of the Game: Jason Kidd – What a pathetic effort by Bucks head coach. The decisions made in this game were concerning to say the least. Giannis draws his fifth foul immediately at the start of the final quarter, and Kidd decided to keep Parker on the bench for the first six and a fucking half minutes of the fourth. Bucks were up by three points, and by the time, Parker came back into the game, they trailed by eight points. That’s an eleven point swing. Unbelievably bad job by Kidd.
Player of the Game (Sixers) Joel Embiid – While Giannis had a great first half, Embiid had a great second half. He went off for 22 points with 13 rebounds and five blocks with most of that coming in the second half. Like Giannis, the Philly phenom is a hell of a talent to watch live. He’s so damn big. Way bigger than I expected him to be.
Positive: Good crowd for MLK Day – There weren’t many positives to be honest with you. Bucks played like shit. They looked hungover like a team who had played three games in four days. That being said, Milwaukee drew a pretty solid crowd for a Monday afternoon game. Sure, some people like yours truly had the day off, but it’s great to see the lower bowl mostly full.
Negative: Where have you gone Bucks three-pointers? – Not sure if we can push the panic button yet, but Milwaukee’s three-point shooting has gone awry in the past couple games. Milwaukee went 5-for-14 on Monday, and on Sunday, they were 6-for-19. That’s a rough stretch. Hopefully, Milwaukee can break out their shooting slump.
Next up
Bucks will try to avoid their third straight loss versus one of the best teams in the NBA, Houston Rockets. James Harden versus Antetokounmpo will be a show like it was the last year. Milwaukee blew a lead in a high-scoring affair in H-town last season, and let’s hope they avoid that fate this time around.
