Bucks Reuniting with Ersan Ilysaova Makes Sense

Milwaukee Bucks have been all about reunions of late. They brought back Brandon Jennings to play with the Wisconsin Herd, and he’s been pretty good through two games. Now, there are rumors Milwaukee could be looking for another reunion. This time, it’s Ersan Ilyasova. Atlanta is finishing up a buyout with him, and people are pointing to Toronto or Milwaukee being options for him. While the reunion is cool and people may make jokes, Ersan is exactly the type of player Milwaukee needs off their bench.
Milwaukee and Toronto among possibilities for an Ersan Ilyasova landing spot once Hawks buyout is complete, but sense is it could open to other teams too.

Currently, Ersan averages 10 points and nearly six rebounds per game. He shoots around 35 percent from three as well. He’s been a productive player for Atlanta this season. Milwaukee doesn’t have an Ilyasova on their roster. Someone who is around 6’8-6’9 who is a physical presence and can provide a little more interior scoring would be very beneficial to Milwaukee’s bench. Sure, Jabari Parker is there now, but who really knows how effective he’ll be this season plus adding more size isn’t a bad thing. Additionally, we saw how Tyler Zeller became a scorer with all attraction going to Giannis when he went into the lane. Feel like you could get even more than with Ilyasova.
Question would be who leaves this roster? The two likeliest candidates are Sean Kilpatrick and Jason Terry. Both players have limited upside to the team. But Kilpatrick seems to be the one to go. He hasn’t exactly fit into the system. He might be a player that just needs to be on a bad team where he can let it fly. As for Terry, it’s hard for me to see him leave the team. I feel like he’s the glue that keeps everything together. Last night showed there’s still a little magic in the Jet.
Let’s hope Milwaukee makes this move because it appears one of their Eastern Conference foes will be ready to add him. If Bucks let him go to Toronto or Philadelphia, they should see it as a lost. Milwaukee’s bench did well last night, but that’s an outlier to what they’ve been dealing with all season.
