LeBron James is gone from Cleveland. James left a complete disaster for Koby Altman to clean up in Cleveland. They have no money. Players are signed for way too much, and they’re going to have to start selling off assets sooner rather than later. Mind you, they do not have a first round pick next year. That belongs to Atlanta. And oh, it’s unprotected. What should Cleveland do? They should probably start selling off as many assets as possible and begin the rebuilding process for Cleveland. Milwaukee should try to grab some of those pieces.

The first thought is Kevin Love. We talked about this on the Daily Tap and the blog before LeBron made his choice to go play for the Lakers.Love seemed like the odd man out then, and he’s still the odd man out. Sure, he could be a superstar for a LeBron-less Cleveland team, but it would probably make more sense for Cleveland to find a ton of young assets to start the next experience. I’d love for Jon Horst to find a way to get himself involved with a trade conversation that involves the All-Star forward.

Milwaukee has assets that could be of interest to a Cleveland team needing an identity. It probably starts with a sign-and-trade of Jabari Parker. Eric Bledsoe may be considered in the package as well but might not fit with what the Cavaliers want to do with their future plans. To me, Khris Middleton feels like he’s off the table, and that’s it from a Bucks perspective. They would likely have to give up their first round pick next year, and I do think many Bucks fans would be okay with that happening for a guy like Love. He is the perfect fit for Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Now, here comes the two-part disappointment that hits you the face like a Mike Tyson punch. Horst doesn’t seem capable to make this kind of move. This is a bit too creative for what he’s done in the past. It would be amazing for him to pull it off, but I’m unsure he could figure it out. Second, Cleveland might keep the band together. Cavs owner Dan Gilbert might talk himself into a combination of Love and Colin Sexton can make this team a high-seed playoff team.

Let’s hope that’s not what Cleveland is thinking though.
