Bucks Smartly Add Brook Lopez to the Squad

Milwaukee Bucks’ front office did not receive high marks for how they handled the offseason thus far. When we did our SnoTap Summer Jam, Murph failed the Bucks for how they’ve done the offseason so far while Mitch gave them a D. People were not happy with what’s transpired in the first week or so. Jon Horst flipped the script a little bit adding Brook Lopez to the team. That’s a great addition for this Bucks team who needed a center that can space the floor with Giannis and Eric Bledsoe diving into the lane. This is a type of player that Milwaukee has been missing for a few years.
Lopez is slated to be the starting center of this basketball team pushing John Henson to a backup role and creating a log jam with Tyler Zeller and Thon Maker. My guess is that one of those three will not be a Bucks player when the calendar turns October. Lopez does not have the defensive acumen as some centers do, but he can block shots. He’s one of the only five players who have blocked 200 shots and made 200 three pointers. The length that Lopez combined with Giannis will be very tough for offenses.
The other part of Lopez you have to like is the three point shooting. Sure, he’s not a rebounder which I think a lot of Bucks fan hoped their next center would be, but he provides a more open concept of basketball. The Stanford alum is also a great passer. We saw how much a solid big man passer can help this team when Milwaukee had Greg Monroe on the team.
The additions of Ersan Ilyasova, Lopez and Donte DiVincenzo are all helping Giannis Antetokounmpo have more room to operate in the paint. That’s all you can ask for.
