BucksCap: Cold-Shooting Bucks Can’t Pull Off Second Straight Miami Upset

Milwaukee Bucks had a chance to be legends last night. The Milwaukee professional basketball team could have won their second straight game after trailing 3-0. Giannis Antetokounmpo did not play in Game 5, and Milwaukee could not do it without him as they did in Game 4. Bucks fall 103-94 in the final game of the season for your Bucks team. Milwaukee bows out in the second round of the NBA Playoffs, and Giannis will have to wait yet another year to make it to the NBA Finals.
Player of the Game: Donte DiVencenzo – It is too bad that we saw this Donte on the final game of the season. Donte stepped up to the plate in Giannis’ absence. He scored 17 points with three made 3-pointers. Donte looked effective on the defensive end as well. It is hard to be optimistic when your team, the best team record-wise in the NBA loses, but this is one reason for optimism. Donte can be an awesome playoff guy, it just hasn’t happened yet for him.
Honorable Mention: Khris Middleton – Even though Khris had a rough shooting night, he was the catalyst for Milwaukee last night. If Khris went, the Bucks went. Mike Budenholzer didn’t do enough to get Khris’ free looks. Middleton should have received one or two plays designed for him that led to an open basket. Everything was hard on Khris. Midds added seven rebounds and six assists.
One thing to remember – Bud did a disservice with the Wes Matthews minutes: Milwaukee could have easily played Wes Matthews more in this game. I love Wes and think he has been great for the Bucks. But Mike Budenholzer has strung him along with starting him then not using him as a starter during the game. Matthews did not have enough fourth quarter minutes for well he did against Jimmy Butler.
Next up: Who knows when next season will begin. NBA is pushing back its NBA Draft and Free Agency from mid-October. It is pretty clear the league is hoping for positive news on the COVID front, and have a date where teams can start bringing fans even if it’s a small number. I’ll be shocked if they play a full 82 next season.
