Can the Milwaukee Bucks Live Up To the Hype?

Milwaukee Bucks season starts this evening at Boston then on Friday night, they open the Bradley Center schedule up with a showdown against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Maybe it’s naive of me, but I’m expecting the LeBron fanboys to only be present when Milwaukee’s digital team catches them on the jumbotron. This city embraced the Bucks at the end of last year, and now, they are ready for a full season of Giannis being close to the Most Valuable Player in this league. The hype is crazy right now. Usually when this happens, Milwaukee swings the other way. There are many scenarios that can play out, but here are the best and worst case.
BEST CASE SCENARIO
Milwaukee Bucks are one of the best teams in basketball. The team looks better without Jabari Parker, and they’re scoring at a great rate plus the defense is making things difficult with all of their length. Once Parker comes back, Milwaukee is somehow even better as the former overall second pick found his way as part of the bench mob with Greg Monroe. Giannis is playing such a high level that he ascends in another realm of superstardom. Bucks make a trade that helps put their bench in good position for a long playoff run. Milwaukee loses to Cleveland or Boston in the Eastern Conference Finals but shows they belong.
WORST CASE SCENARIO
Giannis is bothered by an achy knee that keeps him out of several games, but it’s never really a serious injury. The team finds themselves in injury trouble throughout the year limiting what they can really do as a unit. That said, Milwaukee still plays tough and is around the playoff hunt as a six to eight seed. Bucks try to move Jabari Parker prior to him coming back in February, but it falls through creating a very awkward second half of the season. Parker plays well though setting up a big summer. Once again, Milwaukee loses in the first round.
I’m sure the Bucks will fall somewhere in-between this spectrum then we can have another argument about if they did live up to the hype. Go Bucks.
