Must-See TV
11. Wisconsin at 8. Michigan State (-5.5) 11:00 am Big Ten Network – Check out the preview from earlier.
19. Florida at 14. Tennessee (-6.5) 2:30 pm CBS – Everyone loves Tennessee. They are a 6.5 favorites, ESPN’s ‘pick center’ leans 71 percent Tennessee. And I have no idea why. Josh Dobbs is complete trash for the first three games. Vols can’t run the ball, and their defense is very average. Florida is starting a new quarterback in Austin Appleby who might be the reason why everyone is on Tennessee, but he gets the Vols without Cam Sutton. Gators are mean up front on defense which could slow Tennessee down. Weird shit always happens for the Vols in this one. I’m taking the Gators out of the duty to see one of the weirdest losing streaks continue another year. UF 20-17
7. Stanford (-3) at UCLA 7:00 pm ABC – Last year, Christian McCaffery rushed for 243 yards against UCLA so many wonder if there will be much of the same on Saturday night. Bruins have some beef up front, but I’m unsure if that will stop the Heisman candidate on Saturday. The real story is Josh Rosen’s happy feet might be a real issue. He looks so skiddish outside the pocket, and that will cost him. Cardinal rolls again versus a Los Angeles school. STAN 30-17
Definitely Worth Some Channel Flips
17. Arkansas at 10. Texas A&M (-6) 8:00 pm ESPN (Played in JerryWorld) – This game starts up front watching Daeshon Hall and Myles Jarrett of Texas A&M take on the Arkansas offensive line. That should be fun. Razorbacks have a strong quarterback in Austin Allen, but I’m not confident he’ll handle the consistent pressure by Hall and Jarrett. Every Saturday, we get an ‘arrival’ game of a team who’s going to be a premier team. This week, it’s the Aggies. They pull a surprise rout of Arkansas in the house glory holes built. TAMU 35-10
12. Georgia at 23. Ole Miss (-7) 11:00 am ESPN – Tough game here… Do you take Ole Miss who could be 3-0 and beaten Florida State and Alabama yet couldn’t hold on the lead? Or take Georgia even the Rebels might come in beat up? I like Ole Miss. Georgia is still a young team, and Jacob Eason could have issues with the Ole Miss secondary yet Nick Chubb should be able to eat versus this defense. There will be a tough of points in this one, but I’ll go with Swag at home. OLE MISS 41-35
13. Florida State (-5.5) at South Florida 11:00 am ABC – Very interesting spread for this one. South Florida is no pushover with Quinton Flowers and Marlon Mack who could be Lamar Jackson lite on Saturday. How are we suppose to trust Florida State after last week’s drubbing? Is it just JImbo Fisher will rite the ship and make the adjustments. Deondre Francios didn’t look good. Same for their defense who didn’t look together with Derwin James out. I’m taking the Noles as they can wear down USF, but I wouldn’t be surprised if an upset happened. FSU 24-21
18. LSU (-3.5) at Auburn 5:00 pm ESPN – HOT SEAT BOWL. Let’s get it. LSU will bring new quarterback Danny Etling to Jordan Hare. Even though Auburn’s defense is great, I love LSU here. Sean White is a bad quarterback for Auburn, and he’s not getting better. Additionally, Auburn can’t run the ball. LSU continues to keep putting it together and close this one out. LSU 20-10
Upset of the Week
9. Washington (-11) at Arizona 9:30 pm Pac 12 Network – My mind is telling me no, but my body, my body is telling me yes is a line from our friend R.Kelly. Arizona probably has no business winning this one. Quarterback Anu Soloman might not play, running back Nick Wilson also questionable, but the Cats love their home turf. It’s very rare Arizona lets a team come in and beat them down. Washington still has a ton of questions after three easy opponents. Cats defense can hang around with anybody, and that’s what happens Saturday night. Arizona forces four turnovers and gets the surprising win. ARIZ 21-17
Bet of the Week
Oklahoma State at 16. Baylor (-8.5) 6:30 pm FOX – As noted in the Husky section, I’m always leery of the Week 4 team who played zero high-quality competition before the season started. Case in point, Baylor. Mason Rudolph is a legitimate quarterback with James Washington who had two touchdowns against the Bears last year. We all know this game will be a shootout, and if the Solid Verbal taught us anything, we can the points in a shootout. Baylor keeps their quiet season chugging along. BAY 52-45
Bar Watch of the Week
California at Arizona State (-4) 9:00 pm ESPN2 – Last week’s bar watch features Cal and took us til 1:30 am CST. That’s a bar watch folks. How about Who’s On Third not having this game? Got to have both games of the Bar Watch on so I can enjoy watching instead of being social. This one, I love the Bears. I think they’re legit and not sure why Sparky is getting points. The over/under in this game is 83.5. Davis Webb comes through with a big game, and Cal announces themselves as a player for the 2016 season. CAL 49-44
Worth a Channel Flip
USC at 24. Utah (-3) 8:00 pm (Played on Friday) FS1 – Poor Trojans. They are 1-2. People rumored Clay Helton got punched in practice, and now, they play the Utes in Salt Lake on a Friday night… Yikes. Not to mention, true freshman Sam Darnold will start against this Utah defense. That defense hasn’t allowed over 20 points to any opponent yet this year. I love the Utes here. They force a couple turnovers, and Troy Williams takes can of the rest. UTES 26-14
Penn State at 4. Michigan (-18.5) 2:30 pm ABC – Nothing like the brass at ESPN taking this game instead of Wisconsin-Michigan State, but we’ll move past that. These games are usually a little weird, but I have not confidence in Penn State’s offense. Trace McSorley can put up points, but this feels like a 2 INT Jabril Peppers game with a touchdown. Wolverines pull away in the fourth. MICH 38-21
Sleep Off Your Hangover
