Must-Watch Games
3. Louisville (-2) at 5. Clemson 7:00 pm ABC – Lamar Jackson gets the primetime lights of Death Valley, and if they win this game, the playoff starts looking much better. Bad news for him and Louisville is Clemson figured it out on defense with Deshaun Watson slowly but surely establishing himself as a premier quarterback again. Jackson and Watson will be a spectacle with both teams racing up and down the field. I like Clemson on a last-second field goal. It’s going to be great. CLEM 31-28
7. Stanford at 9. Washington (-3.5) 8:00 pm ESPN (Played on Friday) – Hope you like hitting in this one. The sharps love Washington in this game, and I’m not on board with that line of thinking. Christian McCaffery lives for moments like this one. Washington’s defense is unproven and haven’t seen a line like the Cardinal’s. Jake Browning is good, but once again, they haven’t been tested like this. Stanford is the king of the Pac-12 and until someone beats them, it’s staying that way. STAN 20-16
8. Wisconsin at 4. Michigan (-10.5) 2:30 pm ABC: Check the preview
11. Tennessee (-3.5) at 24. Georgia 2:30 pm CBS – The SEC gauntlet begins for Tennessee as they head down to Georgia. If the Vols win here, they are in the driver’s position for an SEC East title. Georgia looks to bounce back after getting blown out by Ole Miss. Jacob Eason needs to play with more poise early on in this football game. Sadly for the Bulldogs, I see this as an ass-kicking. Joshua Dobbs and this offense figured something out in the second half, and they’re going to ride that into this week. Vols roll in a major way. TENN 31-13
Definitely Keep An Eye On
Oklahoma (-3.5) at 21. TCU 4:00 pm FOX – Feel like TCU is walking into a hornet’s nest with this game. I say that because Oklahoma is in a near must-win situation. They can’t lose three games by October 1st, and Baker Mayfield will have something to play for since a cheap hit knocked him out of this game last season. This will be high scoring, but I’ll chose the best player on the field. OU 45-34
22. Texas at Oklahoma State (-2.5) 11:00 am ABC – ALL OF THE POINTS. This game will be back and forth all day. The great Bill Simmons loves the expression, ‘Are we sure this team is good.’ And I would ask myself that about Texas. Their Notre Dame win is diminishing by the day. Oklahoma State gets to play a game without a weather day. I like Texas’ running game here to power them to victory in a great early game. TEX 41-35
18. Utah at California (-2) 5:00 pm PAC-12 Network – This might be one of the best games of the day. Cal gets a shot to prove they’re not a bad team while Utah heads on the road to keep their winning ways. Terrell Williams should have some fun against the Cal defense, and I don’t know if I can say the same for Davis Webb although USC moved the football pretty well. I cannot figure out Cal for the life of me so that being said I’m picking Utah and looking forward to a Cal win. UTAH 34-30
North Carolina at 12. Florida State (-10.5) 2:30 pm ESPN – I like this spot for Florida State. Last week, they showed what how well their offense works when a team can’t stop a rushing attack, and they get to do it again this week. Dalvin Cook has another big game, and Noles crush Carolina. FSU 37-17
Upset of the Week
17. Michigan State (-6.5) at Indiana 7:00 pm Big Ten Network – We needed something from the upset category and why not go Indiana? Michigan State has played two straight big games and could be in a letdown spot heading to Bloomington. Not to mention, they’re only six and a half point favorites meaning Vegas doesn’t feel good about them. Hoosiers win a stunner and Michigan State is 0-2 in Big Ten play. IND 34-30
Bets of the Week
14. Miami (-7.5) at Georgia Tech 11:00 am ESPN2 – Another favorite I like this time on the road… Georgia Tech is really bad. They didn’t have together against Clemson, and now face another tough club in Miami? That’s no good. Brad Kaaya should rip through the secondary in a big win for The U. MIA 30-10
Illinois at 15. Nebraska (-20) 2:30 pm ESPN2 – For an Illini team that blown out by Western Michigan, this spread shouldn’t be this low. They are really bad. Like Rutgers bad, and that means Cornhuskers will jump on them early and often. NEB 52-14
Bar Watch
Arizona at UCLA (-13) 9:30 pm ESPN – Another non-top 25 matchup for the bars on Saturday. Both teams are coming off tough losses to good teams. I like UCLA a lot better than Zona. They have a strong defense that didn’t give Stanford much, and if Josh Rosen can get it together, they are really good. Give me the Bruins in a rout. UCLA 38-17
Worth a Channel Flip
Memphis at 16. Ole Miss (-14.5) 6:00 pm ESPN2 – One of the funner games from last season. Ole Miss gets two touchdowns to work with which might be too many in a game between two high-powered offenses. Swag Kelly continues to make a case for Heisman consideration and has another big game. OLE MISS 45-34
23. Florida (-10) at Vanderbilt 11:00 am SEC Network – I wouldn’t call it a ‘Bet of the Week’ but Vandy is proving to be really bad. Derek Mason may need to keep this close to save his job. Load up on Florida. UF 41-17
13. Baylor (-16.5) at Iowa State 11:00 am FS1 – Ames magic for first year coach, Matt Campbell? I feel like you have to earn it after a couple tough ones. That being said, Cyclones cover, but too much Seth Russell at the end of it. BAY 42-31
9. Texas A&M (-18) at South Carolina 3:00 pm SEC Network – Poor South Carolina fans, this could get ugly quick. Texas A&M might be one of the more underrated teams in football. They are going to smash Cocky in the mouth in a big victory. TAMU 41-9
Sleep Off Your Hangover
Kentucky at 1. Alabama 6:00 pm ESPN
Rutgers at 2. Ohio State 11:00 am Big Ten Network
19. San Diego State at South Alabama 7:00 pm ESPNews –
Alcorn State at 20. Arkansas 11:00 am SEC Network
Utah State at 24. Boise State 9:15 pm ESPN2 –
