CFB Picks Week 7: Mortgage Your House Saturday

Must-See TV
2. Ohio State (-11) at 8. Wisconsin 7:00 pm ABC – Preview is here.
\1. Alabama (-13) at 9. Tennessee 2:30 pm CBS – The Third Saturday of October comes early this season. Tennessee has been through a worse gauntlet than Wisconsin in the last month. They’ve given their fans all sorts of heart attacks, and if Vols don’t start quick, this is going to get ugly, right? Jalen Hurts is flying under the radar with how great he’s been this season, and he can expose Tennessee’s defense. That being said, Josh Dobbs could be the quarterback to show how bad Alabama’s secondary has been amid their interception fest of Austin Allen. Tide rolls on with a solid backdoor cover. BAMA 31-21
North Carolina at 16. Miami (-7) 2:30 pm ESPN2 – This could be a fun one. I do think the line is a bit of an overreaction to last week’s monsoon. It’s hard to judge North Carolina after their brutal home loss to Virginia Tech. Mitch Trubisky versus Brad Kaaya has the chance to be fantastic. Kaaya needs more help from his running game. I do think Carolina looks better and keeps competitive yet the U holds on with a last-second Kaaya drive. MIAMI 38-33
Definitely Worth Some Channel Flips
12. Ole Miss (-7.5) at 22. Arkansas 6:00 pm ESPN – We need to spread out our picks, but this is a bet of the week. Lock up Mississippi on the road. Yes, you heard me right. Arkansas is not a good team. They can’t play defense, their offensive line stinks and the aforementioned Allen is all they have right now. Ole Miss should be able to put all sorts of points in their face, shouts to Rudy Fernandez. Chad Kelly will return from his short WWE stint to have a huge game. OLE MISS 45-17
20. West Virginia (-1) at Texas Tech 11:00 am FS1 – I’m not sure if this is your older brother’s West Virginia, they actually play a bit of defense. We’ve seen this story before with Mountaineers who start hot then fall apart as the season goes on. Texas Tech’s offense is as good as it’s been in the past couple years led by Patrick Mahomes. This will be a true test for Mountaineers defense. I’ve said this a bunch in picks post before until West Virginia proves they can win on the road, I’m not taking them. TTU 44-42
Kansas State at 19. Oklahoma (-14) 11:00 am ESPN – Oklahoma is back. They are still in the progress of fixing their defense, but it’s starting to come together a little bit. Baker Mayfield’s deep ball is one of the best in football. Dede Westbrook is a great vertical receiver. There’s not much to like about Kansas State. They have a reputable defense but haven’t seen an offense like the Sooners. OU 48-21
Bet of the Week
Tulsa at 13. Houston (-21.5) 6:00 pm ESPN2 – There’s not much to say about this game, but I love Houston to cover the 21.5 plus the over is going to hit in this game. Pissed off Cougars team playing a lifeless Tulsa defense. Lock it up. HOU 55-31
Upset of the Week
10. Nebraska (-3) at Indiana 2:30 pm ABC – This game has all the makings of an upset… Indiana is actually a pretty good team, Nebraska is overrated at number 10, it’s a big event in Bloomington, and the line has come down by three points. Sure, Hoosiers offense isn’t as strong as it’s been in the past, but Nebraska is terrible against the run. This is the game to find their rhythm. Indiana pulls it out very late. IND 20-17
Bar Watch of the Week
UCLA at Washington State (-7) 9:30 pm ESPN – Every fall, a team becomes a ‘Bar Watch Team of the Year’ because ESPN always puts them on late. Washington State is that team. This is another great bet. UCLA is a M.A.S.H Unit including Josh Rosen, that’s not ideal. Parlay Ole Miss, Houston/Tulsa over, Indiana and Wazzu. That’s a full day of money, you’re welcome. WSU 38-20
Worth a Channel Flip
NC State at 3. Clemson (-18) 11:00 am ABC – This spread feels a little high to me. Not sure why, but NC State seems to play Clemson tough. Deshaun Watson will be searching for big plays, and if they hit them, it’s going to be a long day for the Wolfpack. Maybe it’s foolish of me, but I think this is surprisingly close. CLEM 34-27
21. Utah (-9) at Oregon State 3:00 pm PAC-12 Network – Utah struggled on the road last time around with Cal who Oregon State beat at home last Saturday. The transitive property would mean Beavers pull the upset. Let’s just say they cover. I like Utes offense, and they should be able to handle Oregon State. UTAH 30-24
24. Western Michigan (-12) at Akron 2:30 pm CBS Sports Network – ROW THAT BOAT! ROW THAT BOAT! America will be getting on Western Michigan’s bandwagon in a mere matter of weeks. WMU 37-10
Missouri at 18. Florida (-13.5) 3:00 pm SEC Network – Florida gets two weeks to prepare for Tigers, and that should be a good thing. Luke Del Rio is back, and Gators offense should be much improved. UF 28-9
Sleep Off Your Hangover*
Duke at 7. Louisville (Played on Friday) 6:00 pm ESPN
Kansas at 11. Baylor 2:30 pm FS1
Wake Forest at 14. Florida State 2:30 pm ESPN
Colorado State at 15. Boise State 9:15 pm ESPN2
17. Virginia Tech at Syracuse 2:45 pm ESPNU
*Virginia Tech-Syracuse and Wake Forest-Florida State scare the hell outta me to put in the ‘Don’t pay attention’ category. I’m saying it now in case these games get batty.
