Chill Out About Packers Injury Report

There’s going to be an injury report that comes out this afternoon. If it’s anything like yesterday afternoon, people are going to freak out. They did on Twitter yesterday when Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Geronimo Allison didn’t practice. People were bezerk trying to figure out how Packers are going to beat Atlanta Falcons without some of their best, talented receivers. Couple things here – we need to relax because it was Wednesday and it’s gamesmanship plus you know some of these guys will give it go.
I’m unsure why people made the assumption that this is the bible for the week. It’s simply this… Some of those players are going to play against Atlanta, and some will not. There you go. Now, Atlanta being relatively healthy a concern? Not entirely, but it just shows how being a healthy team late in the season can be the difference. It was for Green Bay in 2014. Injuries play a factor in any week of the season so it’s not surprising that Packers have a swath of injuries.
Who are the players most concerning on that list? Morgan Burnett is one of them. If he can’t go, I don’t feel as good about Green Bay’s chance on Sunday afternoon. Burnett not being out there really throws the defensive backfield out of alignment. Davante Adams is a bummer, but Aaron Rodgers is playing out of his mind. If you don’t think he can beat Falcons poor secondary with Jeff Janis, Ty Montgomery out of the backfield, Randall Cobb, Trevor Davis and others, you’re sorely mistaken.
Injuries will be what they will be come Sunday afternoon. There are going to be some that players can’t recover from. There will be ones suffered during the game. It’s part of football. Let’s stop acting like it’s a new thing.
Charlie.
