Cichy’s Injury Is Another Blow To Wisconsin

News broke yesterday Wisconsin will be without Jack Cichy for the season after he tore his pectoral muscle in last Saturday’s win versus Iowa. Cichy is one of the leaders of the Badgers defense leading the team in tackles and having six sacks. This is a mega loss for the team. Cichy’s injury leaves a huge void in the middle of the defense, and it means the field general is missing from that unit. Wisconsin, once again, will look for ways to try and replace him on that defense.
Leon Jacobs will replace Cichy in the middle of the defense. The former linebacker converted to fullback is a linebacker again. Jacobs is a senior, but he doesn’t have the experience that the Somerset native brought to that defense. Where Wisconsin could really see the impact of no Cichy could be in the short passing game. He did a great job covering underneath routes and tight ends. That will be tough to replace.
Jacobs gets thrown into the fire as Wisconsin takes on Nebraska this coming Saturday.
Charlie.
