Concerning How Many Think Hit On Beckham Jr Was Illegal

The National Football League is a violent sport. We’ve heard that how many times from people in the past half decade. Usually, it’s discussing how concussions happen at such a rapid rate. With the fear of concussions and big hits, defense has become a non-factor in today’s game. We rush to our social media accounts to shame someone for a big hit. Just like they did for Browns corner Brien Brody-Calhoun for his stick on Odell Beckham Jr causing an ankle sprain. It’s ridiculous people think this is illegal.
If Brody-Calhoun went high there, he’s going to get fined and probably flagged 15 yards. If he tries to tackle him straight up, the odds are probably not great in his favor that the corner will tackle Beckham Jr. He went low because it was the quickest way to make a play. It might make people uncomfortable, but that’s football. You play the games like it’s your last. Brody-Calhoun might be on the edge of being cut from the team. He needs to make that play and not worry if social media will shame into a dirty hit.
We are triggered to immediately respond with claims of a dirty hit because of the rampant talk about concussions and injuries. This will be an A block topic for radio stations, and it shouldn’t be due to the nature of the hit. A star player got hurt because of a legal hit, that shit happens all of the time. I get Beckham Jr is an electric player, and a key catalyst to Giants’ success, yet, we cannot pick and choose who gets to avoid low, clean hits.
I know players were mad last night on social media, but that happens across leagues when players go down in such a way that Beckham Jr last night. You hate to see it. To me if you want to look up a somewhat dirty low hit, check out Matt Elam’s stick on Randall Cobb that damaged his knee. He basically speared his knee whereas this one, he’s trying to trip the Giants star receiver up.
Hope this isn’t the season of social media reacting to low hits because I’ll lose my shit.
Charlie.
