Congrats to Pepsi On Making Worst Ad Of The Year
In 2017, the social media world gets outraged about everything. Most of the time, it’s ridiculous and making a bigger deal out of a very little thing. That said, Pepsi made an ad that’s worth outrage and probably not the thinkpieces even thought hey are going to be coming tomorrow morning. ‘Why Pepsi whitewashed protesting’ or something along those lines. I cannot believe an agency sold Pepsi on this idea, and even more outrageous, the heads of Pepsi bought into it. Now, they’re in full crisis mode.
Kendall Jenner makes thing so much worse. Like this is already bad, but add to the fact, a model decided to stop working to join a protest then give a police officer a Pepsi to mend fences. After the Pepsi exchange, people are dancing like it’s a goddamn Diplo concert. My mind is in such a puzzle about what the soda brand is trying to convey here. There hasn’t been this big of a miss in awhile. Thankfully, the ad didn’t appear at Super Bowl paying millions of dollars for ad space.
If you want to get real with things for a second, this is why protests should be done with the only most serious manners. Everyone is different when it comes to serious topics for them, but it’s the simple point of don’t protest every goddamn thing you disagree with. For example, a person protesting his or her school because some figure is on campus or something ridiculous in nature is what makes an ad agency and company think that it’s acceptable to promote this sort of thing.
