ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt once said “Sports is the greatest reality show.” And how true that is especially last night with Miami Marlins. They honored Jose Fernandez in many different ways with a moment of silence and ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ with one lone trumpet. Dee Gordon, one of his best friends, steps to the plate for his first at-bat and hits his first home run of the season. Gordon has tears running down his face before he reaches homeplate. Sports is the best sometimes. They know how to bring us together. This is the best moment of the baseball season at its darkest time.
Marlins are four games back from the final playoff spot. As J.P once said, “It could happen.”
