Dodgers Bullpen May Have Killed The Cubs

While this is a day for the NBA as most of the teams kick off their seasons, we could see the 2016 World Series champions end theirs tonight at Wrigley Field. Chicago Cubs are on the brink of elimination trailing 3-0 to the suddenly hot Los Angeles Dodgers. Last night was an ugly game from the Cubs perspective who struggled in the field and bullpen was an issue again in more ways than one. Cubs pen struggled while the Dodgers bullpen continued to look unhittable as Chicago continues to be listless against this bunch. Can Chicago find a way against this bullpen or is the grim reaper paying a visit tonight?
hidden no-hitter for the Dodgers' bullpen in this series. Cubs 0-for-28 with a HBP, BB and 10 K now

This is an amazing stat. Cubs have not gotten a hit off the Dodgers bullpen through three games. Alex Wood, tonight’s starter, might only need to go five innings before he can hand it out to this lights out bullpen. I said on the podcast this week that this bullpen was like the Kansas City Royals on steroids with Kenley Jansen becoming the best closer in baseball. A part of me thought about the chance of Chicago winning four straight and going back to the World Series, although, the Dodgers bullpen is my blanket to protect from that thought becoming reality.
All of this said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Cubs won tonight given Wood hasn’t pitched in two weeks. They have to jump on him early, or it’s going to be another one of these games.
