Dom Capers Finally Gets The Boot To No One’s Surprise

Dom Capers is no longer part of the Green Bay Packers. In a move that should have happened a year or two ago, Capers finally got let go by the Green Bay Packers whose had them on their staff since 2009. Capers became the main talking point when people wanted to see changes happen with the team. As the year went on, everyone could see that the Packers defensive coordinator’s best years past him by in today’s NFL. The team will now look for a new coordinator, and the question is will they stay in house to do it?
It’s hard to pinpoint the exact game when people lost faith in Capers. There are people who hung on for a long time, and those who have wanted him gone a few years ago. When people started to get an idea that it might be over, we could look at the Atlanta game last season when the defense looked so far behind everyone on the Falcons offensive roster. More problems started to sprung up with opposing offenses continually poking holes in the Packers defense. Capers never seemed to make adjustments. The cherry on top of people losing faith were seeing former Packers like Casey Hayward, Micah Hyde and Julius Peppers excel with other defenses.
Who will Green Bay go with next? Many are against a hire inside the organization like Joe Whitt or Darren Perry. I feel like an in-team promotion isn’t an issue if Whitt or Perry promise that things will be different. Fans are going to be cynical, yet a defensive mind from another team could have similar issues. This isn’t about if they have a relationship with the Packers or not, rather, who is the best coach for these group of defensive players? If that’s Whitt, let’s go with him. Or Vic Fangio (By the way, Jason Wilde mentioned how he has many Capers ties fwiw), he’s the answer. Green Bay shouldn’t settle or go the easy route. They need to choose the best option.
So long, Dom. Not sad to see you leave the Packers.
Charlie.
